Short version: IkaLabs apps collect no data. No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no accounts with us. Your recipes live on your device. Where else they travel — iCloud, your own Mealie server — is your decision.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is the person named in the legal notice (Impressum).

2. The "Pantry Next" app

Up to version 1.2.1 the app was called "Pantry for Mealie".

2.1 No data collection by us

Pantry Next contains no analytics, tracking or advertising services. The app sends no data whatsoever to IkaLabs or to third parties. There are no user accounts with IkaLabs.

2.2 Your recipes live on your device

Recipes, shopping lists, meal plans and photos are stored in a database on your device. The app works entirely without a server and without internet. Deleting the app removes this data.

2.3 iCloud sync (optional, off by default)

If you switch on "Sync with iCloud" in the settings, the app additionally stores your library in your own iCloud account (private CloudKit database, container iCloud.de.steffennas.MealieApp), so that your devices hold the same state. Apple processes this data under Apple's terms; IkaLabs has no access to it and learns neither whether you use the sync nor what it contains. Switching it off ends the sync; the recipes on your device remain.

2.4 Backup

A backup is only created when you explicitly ask for one. It is placed in the Files app under "Pantry Next" and, where iCloud Drive is reachable, there as well. There is exactly one backup: it is overwritten, not multiplied. It contains no credentials.

2.5 Mealie server (optional)

You can connect your own Mealie server and, on top of that, add the servers of friends and family. Only then is content transferred between your device and that server. The operator of that server is responsible for the processing that happens there; IkaLabs has no access to it.

Server address and display name are stored locally.
The access key lives solely in the protected iOS Keychain on your device.
If you sign in with a password, the app exchanges it once for its own API token. The password is not stored.

2.6 Importing recipes from the web

When you give the app an address, or send a page to it through the share sheet, the app fetches exactly that page in order to read the ingredients and steps from it. The operator of that site sees the technically necessary connection data (in particular your IP address), just as when you open the page in a browser. Nothing goes to IkaLabs or to any other third party.

2.7 Photographing cookbook pages

When you photograph a recipe page or pick an image, the text is read on your device (Apple's Vision framework). On devices with Apple Intelligence, an on-device language model additionally sorts the page into a recipe. Neither the image nor the text leaves your device. What was recognised is shown to you as a draft; nothing is saved until you confirm it.

2.8 Photo access

When you pick a photo, the app uses the iOS photo picker. Only the selected image is processed. It stays on the device — unless you have switched on iCloud sync, or the recipe belongs to a Mealie server.

2.9 Share nearby

A recipe can be sent straight to another device in range. The transfer uses Apple's Multipeer Connectivity (local network and Bluetooth) directly from device to device — no server, no internet. iOS asks once for local network permission. You are visible to others only while you leave this switched on in the settings.

2.10 Widgets and Siri

For the widgets, the app writes a small summary into a shared area on the device; the widget only reads from it. Siri requests are handled by the system — the app receives only the finished command.

2.11 Apple

Independently of this app, Apple may — depending on your iOS settings ("Share with App Developers") — collect anonymised crash and diagnostic data and make it available to us via App Store Connect. Details in Apple's Privacy Policy.

3. This website

This is a static website with no cookies, tracking or analytics. It is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you visit, GitHub processes technically necessary data (in particular your IP address) in server logs to provide and secure the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Details: GitHub Privacy Statement.

4. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). Since IkaLabs itself does not process personal data of app users, requests concerning data on a Mealie server should be directed to its operator, and requests concerning iCloud data to Apple.
